On Black Friday every year, when I get home from countless hours of bargain hunting done during the weeiest hours of the night, all I want to do is crawl into bed and sleep my way into recuperation. Ryan, bless his huggable-loveable-heart, always lets me--but not without reminding me first that "partying all night and sleeping all day was before kids, it's not allowed now!" :D
Tonight I think he sees a little differently, especially since he will be out whooping it up himself till at least high-moonish! Our first ever Relay For Life starts at 6pm tonight, in Minerva. We are sharing this very special event with some family and many friends, and countless others who will be out there both in honor and memory of their own Loves who took up arms in the cancer war. I can tell already that this is going to be very much like our first trip to CTCA. Another chance to experience the unparalleled strength and beauty of the warriors in the fight. I can. Not. WAIT!!!! :D :D :D :D
There a zillion things going on besides the relay: horse and pony rides; bounce houses; auctions; concessions; contests; meals which are free to survivors and by donation to the public; the luminaria ceremony which takes place at 10pm. It's going to be amazing!!!! I'm taking loads of pictures and video and will get them up asap, probably after I sleep my way into recuperation tomorrow. Because it takes place from 6pm tonight until closing ceremonies end tomorrow, and they begin at 11am. I will be there the entire time--and I am hoping I can rock it for the full 17+ hours!!!!
Come out if you can and want to! Register and walk for Team Vrudney! Bring me some super sweet super charged coffee! :)) Most of all, say a prayer tonight, or think a kind thought, for all those who have fought, or are fighting cancer in any form. And for those whose fight is not on the front lines, but rather in the laboratory trying to coax a cure out of seemingly thin air.
