CTCA Appointment Info

Ryans appointment went good--I'm a little disappointed that he didn't get answers to a few questions, but the over-all news was really good!

His blood work is top notch, they said his counts couldn't possibly be any higher--so for now he no longer has to get the weekly blood-work done, his monthly draw done at CTCA is all that is needed! THAT is a HUGE thing in my opinion, and I couldn't be happier!!!! :))

His PET scan back in June showed an area of rapid tissue growth along his surgical site. They said then that it's possible he hadn't healed completely before starting the chemo, and that the chemo could slow or prevent healing. So what lit up on the scan might have been just continued healing from surgery. He's started having pain in that same area over the last few weeks. During his exam the doctor couldn't find any reason for it, so for now he is just to manage the pain and they will take a good look at the site on his CT scan next month.

I was really hoping for an answer to the pain, but Ryan said they are the experts, and if they aren't worried about it he isn't going to be either. So I guess that just leaves me worrying myself silly for the next month...

Because his next appointment is a scan, it will be a longer visit. Because it's an important scan, I want to be there with him. So I'm looking into all these charity organizations that donate flights for cancer patients to get to and from care. I have no idea yet if any of them can provide for caregivers, but I am looking into it and hoping for the best! :)

And for now, I'm off to work! I can't wait to share what's been taking place on that front! We are trying really hard to work out all the details needed to get us back up on our own feet again. It's incredible how much our life has changed in just a few months....but I'm still holding onto hope that there is a greater purpose to it than just our own tailspin. So we keep looking ahead and moving forward, one day at a time.
